Once in a while an idea surfaces that are just plain awesome. And the idea to be able to pay for something with a tweet is one of those ideas. I just downloaded the e-book “OH MY GOD WHAT HAPPENED AND WHAT SHOULD I DO?” from Innovative Thunder, and paid with a tweet for it.
They both wrote the book and the service to pay for it.
The concept is that the buyer sends a prewritten tweet from the seller and then gets to download or whatever what the seller intends. Easy, smooth and smart.
Hopefully this will have a good natured development on the net. Would be boring if Twitter was filled with tons and tons of Tweet$.
Btw, can you call a Tweet you pay with for Tweet$?
Hereby I proclaim that there is NO results for the sentence “Copyleft out of the picture” on Google. Therefor do I also proclaim that I am the first one to use it since I’ve been using it for several years.
Usage: Copyleft out of the picture since 2010.
I wont take royalties. Since…. Copyleft out of the picture since 2010. But I was first. Link back to this post.
The case is still as written before. I have to train my english. So expect this post to have both flaws in grammar and spelling – apart from the obvious flaws in logic and reason buried inside the proposed meaning of the words.

As I sat on a lecture that were supposed to be a summary about cancer and carcinogenesis. And it was, but it was also about the latest news in cancer research.
Everything I’ll write from here on is just from my memory and I don’t have anything else then what that guy at the lecture said. He seemed like a trustworthy guy .
Apparently there are 116 432 human cancers and 353 different histopathological subtypes and 3142 mutated genes that we know of. The interesting part here is that there are only 353 different histopathological subtypes. Not that many in comparison to the large amount of mutated genes and cancers. Further more, out of these 3142 mutated genes only 319 were either supressor och oncogenes (genes that start cancer more or less), and even more interesting is that all are componentes of 12 pathways. (These numbers are from slides which in turn comes from American Association for Cancer Research)
These pathways are apparently kinda well-known and in theory there is a way to block or stimulate these different paths.
Meaning: In theory, today, there is a way to inhibit any cancer that occurs in humans. If not cure it, at least control it. Just like Diabetes. One could live with the cancer.
There were two problems that were reflected upon during the lecture. There isn’t a final product for each of these pathways today – but the lecturer thought that it could be possible to achieve within three to five years. The other problem is that these medicines do and will cost a fortune. One month with one of these new targeted medicines could cost around 100 000 SEK (which is around 12800 USD). This was said to be because the high research costs.
On the other hand there are not that many patients, but if there is a treatment you can’t really deny anyone it. So it could become a huge problem that the cost is so high. Specially in a country with tax-founded health care like Sweden, and soon USA too?
But if this is true. Then in theory the cancer threat could be a thing of the past in a few years. Good times.
The case is still as written before. I have to train my english. So expect this post to have both flaws in grammar and spelling – apart from the obvious flaws in logic and reason buried inside the proposed meaning of the words.

Today you can from time to time hear someone saying that technology is moving to quick to follow. You might even feel that way yourself sometimes. And in most ways it is true. Development and science is uncovering new landmasses on the planet of knowledge each day, and every day faster then the day before. Regular books have trouble to encompass the knowledge of today before it is outdated and in need of replacement. Something especially true with medicine. Eric Kandels classic regarding neuroscience “Principles of neural science” have had its release date for the fifth edition postponed a few times over the last years now. My guess is that it is hard to finish one chapter in time before the previous one is outdated.
The solution to this ought to be articles. Straight from the universities and into the hands of anyone who is interested. A good book on basics and then only articles. The problem with this is that articles is dense and take both time and patience to read. And they often address very small parts of the science they sprout from. The only field of study you can keep track of without dedicating all free time to articles is the one that is your own field, and maybe some fields with much in common. Since articles need basic understanding of the field from which they origin and need time and patience to read you never venture far from your field of expertise.
But why should anyone need to know about the progress in any other field then their own? Well, with every step into further understanding of a field the closer to the same basic mechanic we get. Everything is ultimately governed by the laws of physics (as we know today, right?). And the closer to the “core” of all things we get we also get the opportunity to combine fields of science.
A good example is the work on BMI that is done all over the globe. The goal is to combine neuroscience, electrotechnology and computers. Point being that with extended knowledge of the possibilities in completely different fields then your own you might come up with the next e=mc2.
The idea to solve this would be an idea that have circulated among scientists and others a long time. Sharing knowledge. And not in the way that articles does it, no. The way we all do it in our everyday life. We talk and explain what we do to people we meet.
This idea reminds me of a quote from the series “A Streetcar Named Desire”, where the character Blance DuBoissays:
“I have always depended on the kindness of strangers.”

Someday I want to start, or why not just experience, a group where you can get the latest and greatest summaries of fields of study by the top scientists on that field. A door into understanding what else there is and what visions of the future it holds, and also the worries and dangers.
I want to be able to explain to anyone what nanotechnology, mathematics, biotech, physics, geology, zoology and everything else is and what is happening inside that field today. Not with great detail, but in essence. I want to know where I can turn when I get stuck in my field.
Synergy must be fueled. Science-fiction must be transformed into Science-fact.
This will be written in english. Why? Because I need to practice. Something that soon will be very apparent.
Lets face it, Facebooks main feature is that most of your friends has it, and maybe that it has a lot of features on the same site. But honestly, most of those features is not that good. Lets look at them one by one and see what I mean.
Mail – Fair to say is that mail in Facebook is not in itself bad. It does the same thing the regular mailprotocol does. But inside Facebook. That sends an additional mail. To your real mailbox… ?… With a link to the thing on Facebook which they call a mail, or message, or whatever. Don’t get me wrong, a decent socialnetworking site should have some kind of messagingsystem. But when it does NOTHING new from regular mail, and with the default settings even sends a mail to your mailbox with the goddamn message and link to answer. Why in the name of all things holy can’t I just get it to my mailbox and not one more time in Facebook. Because my mailboxes, like many others, are a Gmail one and has lots of nice features and is not a pain to use. Like Facebook. And the biggest turd of it all is that people acctually use this feature like regular mail. Expecting me to check it. Well, I’ll check it when Facebook has exchange support.
Chat – Cool to be able to in-window chatt with people online on Facebook. Not that cool it sucks. Since I surf more pages then Facebook I don’t see when anyone says anything if I don’t check it every 5th second. And, no, the flashing titlebar is not enough. But it would have been a nice thing if they used some kind of standard protocol so I could log on to the chat with Adium or similar. Which I can. But only since Steve (?) backwardsengineered it. And it is unstable and kinda crap. The “protocol” they use. Not the API Steve(?) made.
Event planning – Please. It’s good because everyone has Facebook. Check doodle out if you want at least ONE new idea. The event planing in Facebook is tedious, clumsy and non-dynamic. And no sync to iCal or Outlook or anything. Why use something and write one billion letters if I can’t sync it?
Groups and social networking – At least one good thing right? Well, if you manage to find anyone. All the social networking is only through friends of friends and direct search. Not bad, not good. With Facebooks userbase you feel like they have the opportunity of a lifetime to do some kind of kick ass tool or algorithm to find people that match you. But no.
Its too bad. It could have been nice. Hands down, Facebook does not reinvent anything and pulls of everything it does inferior to any stand alone service out there. Facebook is kinda crap.
And this post is kinda crap. But I dont have enough readers to put energy into it. I just need to get things of my mind.
Where Am I?
